The Horsehead Nebula is a small dark nebula in the constellation Orion. The nebula is part of the much larger Orion Molecular Cloud Complex a very turbulent start forming region. Dark nebula is a type of interstellar cloud that is so dense that it obscures light from objects behind it. Dark nebulae can be up to several hundred light-years large and can weigh up to tens of millions of solar masses. This makes them a huge storehouse of star-forming material. These clouds are the spawning grounds of stars and planets, dark and a seemingly lifeless these are in reality areas where life of future stars and planets begins.
The largest dark nebulae are visible to the naked eye, appearing as dark patches against the brighter background of the Milky Way. Strictly speaking it’s an impossibility to “see” dark nebula as it’s only the absence of the light of other stars we are noticing.
